I have been gone for most of the last several weeks (see this post), having only been back since late Tuesday. Fortunately, the word is getting out through various channels, but in the event that there is anyone that has not yet heard, this needs to be posted here.

In a Monday, August 17 press release, Senator Nelson’s office announced a series of townhalls, including one that occurred in Omaha on Wednesday.

I have included an linked image to the press release, below.

Here is the pertinent information for the Lincoln Townhall:

Details of the Lincoln Public Meeting:

DATE: August 20,2009

TIME: 3 p.m.-4 p.m. CT

LOCATION: Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital Therapy Gym, 5401 South Street, Lincoln

TOPICS: Health care and other issues important to Nebraskans

I have had a number of emails forwarded to me regarding this townhall. One of them indicated that an RSVP may be necessary, another advised getting to the location by NOON to ensure the ability to get a seat.

As I am getting the information so late in the game, I cannot provide any assurance as to the accuracy of either of these pieces of information.

That being said, it seems best if there are questions to call Senator Nelson’s Lincoln office:

440 North 8th Street
Suite 120
Lincoln, NE 68508
Tel: (402) 441-4600
Fax: (402) 476-8753

You will note that the press release indicates future meetings in North Platte, Kearney, and South Sioux City, without dates indicated.

If you happen to be in any of these locations or plan to drive to any of them and want additional information, again, the best method for uncovering it may be to call the relevant district office. If you CLICK HERE, you will go to Sen. Nelson’s contact page. On the right side bar there is a list of the contact information for his district office.

Finally, you will note that Sen. Nelson states there is a lot of false information being disseminated about health care reform. It is clearly important that Sen. Nelson be set straight on the fact that his constituents are paying attention to the debate on this issue, that we have examined the bill apparently more carefully that he has, and most importantly, that we are aware of what the Constitution says about the enumerated powers of the Federal government.

If it is at all possible, please try to attend one of the upcoming townhalls.
